New Covenant Biblical Counseling
“Changing Heart and Lives by the Word & Spirit of God”

Mission Statement The church exists to glorify God by making and maturing disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. This means by which this is accomplished is through power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. In fulfilling this mission, my desire is to provide biblical counseling in and through local churches, as well as to provide training and resources to evangelical churches in Oakland County and surrounding areas.

Education and Experience I am a biblical counselor, licensed minister and member of New Covenant Church in Auburn Hills, Michigan. I have an undergraduate degree from Bible College in bible and counseling. A graduate degree in pastoral ministry and counseling from Faith Baptist Theological Seminary and 10 years of church ministry experience. Currently, I am in the process of getting my Master of Divinity at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Personal Testimony and Family Life I am married to Renee and together we have seven children. I grew up in Toledo, Ohio. I attended church as a young child, yet throughout my teenage years I was rebellious and was involved in hard rock music, drugs and alcohol. I lived for the pleasures of the world and on January 13, 1996, at the age of twenty-three, I realized I sinned against God, repented of my sin, and my life was transformed by the gospel. I became a new person in Christ and was baptized two weeks later. Shortly after this experience, I surrendered my life to serve the Lord. Since then, I have been serving the Lord through local church ministry. My passion for biblical counseling started as a result of the realization that the bible is the source of the all truth and is sufficient to meet spiritual needs of people. In ministry, I have experienced people in churches that struggle with issues such as depression, anger, forgiveness, guilt, marital conflict, teenage rebellion, anxiety, self-esteem, identity, finances, grief, addictions, and other issues. I see a need to come alongside and help individuals, couples, and families that are struggling with such issues. Also, I see a need to help equip people in the body of Christ to minister to the needs of others, through biblical counseling training.

What is Biblical Counseling? A biblical counselor is not a christian psychologist or psychiatrist. We begin by asking the question, "What does God's Word say?" We believe that everything begins and ends with God’s Word! The goal of biblical counseling is to address the heart as the agent of change. Have you ever wondered, "Why do people do the things they do?" As counselors, we believe the answer is to look at what is controlling the heart. The ultimate goal is to see the heart changed. Help that fails to address issues of the heart will address only the symptom rather than the root of the problem. We believe the only way for hearts to change is to be transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Once the heart has been transformed, then the goal for believers is to change and grow into the image of Jesus Christ! Biblical counseling is really evangelism and discipleship. The Bible is our authority and we are totally dependent upon the Holy Spirit to bring about change in the heart!

Biblical Counseling Provided Typical counseling sessions are scheduled for 60-75 minutes with individuals, couples, or families on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. There are homework assignments that are given out each week. The counseling sessions are built upon them and it is expected that they will be completed each week.
