Worship

Our worship at New Covenant is focused on glorifying God first and foremost! We have searched the Scriptures to see how our worship services should be conducted, and from passages in the Bible such as Isaiah 6 and Revelation 4-5 (among others) we have found that each time of worship should contain certain elements. When you visit New Covenant for worship service, you can expect to spend time in prayer, listening to and meditating upon Scripture read, giving back to the Lord, and singing His praises.

We sing a blend of the beautiful hymns of the past with the newer praise songs of the present. We are not competing with rock bands for noise, or with funeral organs for somberness. We seek to address all our praise and worship to the God who created us and saved us, so all we do is with Him in mind, and not for
the purpose of entertainment. Our worship time is practice for what we shall do in Heaven, when we see
our Lord face to face.

Here is sample of the songs we have sung in recent weeks:

Jesus Loves Me
How Great Is Our God
Blessed Assurance
Awesome God
How Great Thou Art
I Worship You, Almighty God
King of Kings
Old Rugged Cross
The Heart of Worship
Worthy of Worship
Celebrate Jesus!
I Could Sing of Your Love Forever
As The Deer
Wonderful Merciful Savior
I Exalt Thee
Above All
Jehovah Jireh
Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus
Open the Eyes of My Heart
Holy, Holy, Holy (Medley)

Athough several different Bible versions are used by our people (and that is just fine with us), our pastor preaches from the English Standard Bible. He normally teaches and preaches expositionally, which means that he goes straight through books of the Bible, letting them speak for themselves. In this way, the Bible is allowed to bring up topics and issues that the Lord has providentially placed in His Word, enabling the Holy Spirit to apply them to the Church as He sees fit. This also provides a great way to understand the flow of Biblical teaching and the great doctrines of the Bible.

Recent sermon series include Malachi, Ephesians, the Sermon on the Mount, Colossians, and the current study in the Psalms.

We celebrate the Lord's Supper about once a month, on the first Sunday of each month. Usually we have a special evening service for just that purpose, but in months that have five Sundays, we celebrate the Lord's Supper in the morning worship service. This schedule is slightly altered when we have our annual Good Friday evening Lord's Supper service and Christmas Eve Lord's Supper service.

We welcome to the Lord's table anyone who satisfies the two following requirements: he/she must be born again (not necessarily a church member, but certainly a devoted follower of Jesus Christ) Matthew 26:26-28, and he/she must be in good relations with other people (this involves a time of silent prayer and private self-examination that we do in the service before the Supper is taken) I Corinthians 11:27-30.
